Monday Melodies: Collin McLoughlin

I was first introduced to Collin McLoughlin on The Kollection with his Slow Dancing In a Burning Room cover. Now, before I get any further  let me say that John Mayer is one of my all time favorite artists.  It takes an awful lot for me to like a cover of any of his songs (I'm pretty sure this is a first).  I hear Collin McLoughlin's cover and fell. in. love.

He has a phenomenal voice.  It's amazing.  The singer/songwriter began his fame on youtube with the release of Chasing Dreams:

He continued his fame when he auditioned for Season 3 of The Voice, joining Adam Levine's team.

After my discovery in December, I listened nonstop during finals week. His music was the perfect study companion! Take a listen below.

If you like what you hear, Like Collin McLoughlin Music on Facebook. (There's some free downloads, too!)

What do you think?  Any suggestions for future Monday Melodies posts?

The New Year

Oh.my.goodness!  Where has 2013 gone already?  I can't believe January is almost up.

Ever notice how people make super ambitious new years resolutions?  And then aren't able to accomplish them?  About this time every year resolutions are broken (or have been broken by now!).  Well, I've never been a fan of 'resolutions' for this exact reason.  Now, I'm not saying that you shouldn't make any resolutions, but I'm going to refer to them as goals.  I LOVE goals.  Almost as much as I love to-do lists.  (This is serious people)

Goals are attainable in nature.  If your goals aren't attainable, you need to rethink your goal making process.  Rather than making a resolution to lose weight (how vague is that??) you should make a goal to watch what you eat to implement healthier foods and start a workout plan.  Boom. Instantly more attainable.

Now, someone out there is probably wondering why I am blogging about resolutions & goals now -- we're almost through January for pete's sake!  Well, I won't lie to you, I just made my goals for the year today.  Yep, today.  So if you never made your goals for the new year, never fail!  There is still time!

This year, I decided I would borrow Carly's method for goals.  One focus per month.  Since January is pretty much over, I excluded January from my list.  (I also cut myself some slack since most of January has been a transition time!)

I also excluded December.  I need some time off!

Of the 10 months remaining, these topics are things I want to focus my life on a bit.  Even if I only make small progress towards each of these topics during the month, it's a start.  Just because I've assigned each one to a month doesn't mean I won't contribute something to it at a different time; i.e. I'm not going to stop blogging until June and only blog during the month of June.

I also have an ongoing list of smaller goals like cleaning out my email inbox every Sunday night.

I'll be tracking my progress every so often & I hope that when December rolls around I will have accomplished some goals!

If you haven't made your 'resolutions' or goals yet -- now is the time!  Consider this your opportunity!

What are your goals for the year?

p.s. I'm head-over-heels in love with Carly's business card method!
