Five on Friday: Frozen

I finally got to see Frozen last weekend and along with the rest of the world, I loved it! With the return of the polar vortex and it being Valentines Day, it seemed only appropriate for this week's five on friday. Every time I get on tumblr, I run across a cute gif, so here's a compilation of my favorites!

I thought about writing some commentary to go with - but I think they speak for themselves! Frozen serves as a great reminder of all the different paths a love story can take! If you haven't seen it - you need to get on that, asap.

I'll leave you with an awesome mashup of Let it Go & Let Her Go!

Happy Valentines Day!

Home

Don't pay no mind to the demons
They fill you with fear
The trouble it might drag you down
If you get lost, you can always be found
Just know you're not alone
Cause I'm gonna make this place your home
This quote could not be more relevant right now. My life is in a period of transition and I'm still trying to figure out how to juggle everything while planning for the future.

I got super frustrated with life last week. I felt super overwhelmed & burnt out and I broke down. I thought about leaving Michigan State and felt like I didn't really have a connection to MSU other than AOII.

When I first showed up to move into my dorm freshman year, I didn't know anyone. I felt like I could drift around campus without any recognition from anyone because I didn't know anyone. This feeling stayed until last week.

The next night we had a social event. I dragged my feet, I just wasn't feeling it. It turned out to be the exact thing I needed.

I showed up to that social & was reminded of the connections and more important, friends I've made in the last two and a half years. It's so easy for me to let friendships fall to the wayside when I get caught up in life. That night reminded me how important it is to have a network, full of connections of all kinds and how easy it can be to loose faith in yourself.

I haven't realized it along the way, but I've made Michigan State my home. I've had my share of getting lost & tearing myself down, but there's always a network of support and love around me. I couldn't dream of going anywhere else anytime soon.

Why Not You?

I skipped the pre-Super Bowl posting, mostly because of lack of time. But this post was too good to pass up.

If you watched the Broncos get murdered game yesterday, I'm 100% sure you heard the phrase "why not you?" all thanks to Seahawks' quarterback Russell Wilson's father.

"Why not you?"

If Russell Wilson can lead his team to a Super Bowl victory, what can you accomplish?

This is your invitation.

Go after that promotion or new opportunity.

Dare to dream bigger than before. And go pursue it.

What would you do if you couldn't fail?

Take a risk.

Go on adventure.

You never know what you might find when you loose yourself.

Five on Friday: Surviving the Polar Vortex

Since the Polar Vortex had so much fun the first time around & has decided to make a second appearance, I've been bundling up and staying indoors as much as possible!

It seemed necessary to pull together five essentials for surviving the bitter cold.

Cetaphil Lotion | Of course the first thing on my list would be moisturizer. I quickly realized that my regular day-to-day face lotion just wasn't going to cut it when my face was in pain from the cold wind. I stopped by CVS and picked up some super heavy duty Cetaphil lotion to keep my face moisturized.

Aquaphor | Another moisturizer. You have to take care of your skin! My lips have gotten to the point of cracking multiple times, I layer on Aquaphor like it's my job recently.

Kleenex | Winter inevitably brings along a runny nose while you walk outside! I hate sniffling my entire walk to class. I always have tissues with me to combat this (bonus points if you have a travel pack!)

Gloves | Keep your fingers warm! I've seen more tweets than I can count about wanting to retain all of our fingers & toes during the bitter cold recently. Sometimes it's best to pair gloves & mittens together.

Instant Chocolate Cappuccino | When all else fails, curl up under a blanket with a warm cup of coffee. My mom brought a package of these back from France and I absolutely love them! The right amount of sweet, without overpowering caffeine.

What's getting you through this extreme cold?

p.s. This post was supposed to go live on Friday... Bid Day got in the way a little bit. Let's just pretend it actually went up on Friday!
